Not certain it belongs here, or in maybe the Columbia - or both. I've purchased property about half way between Columbia and Charlotte, but East of Lake Wateree. Not perfect, but for what I need, it's really close to perfect, in a perfect price range (mine).
Now on to building. The land has been cleared for building, but I need to have some site work done (read: ground/dirt moved), build a storage area (out building), get temporary electric established, and all else that goes with the excitement of buying/building. I am of course on a budget, and looking for contractors that I could possibly use for doing 70-90% of the work, but letting me do some to help with the costs.
The schedule is not as important as the quality and budget. I am in a unique position where I HAVE to work about 8 more months, but CAN work another year or even two from now. Ultimately, I'd like to stop working in 8-12 months, get my house built & move in (maybe the end of 2019) and then get a part time knock around job for a couple more years to fund things like landscaping. That would be ideal. Life is not always cooperative with 'ideal'. So I'm a little flexible with life. A quality build is more of a priority than a quick build. Quality typically does cost more, but again, time is not a high priority, so a good builder could maybe use my home as a 'fill in' for the times when the subs might be down for a day or two - at a 'fill in price'. "An extra 3 days for the windows to arrive"... I'm ok with that.... as long as the windows are not 3 months late when the builder says 3 days.
I'm looking for 'one stop shop' - someone to build the entire thing, or individual subs that can do things a little here and there inbetween a regular gig maybe. Recommendations - both who to use, and who to not use. Feel free to use PM for either. Suppliers for materials - like directly to the lumber mill for discounted wood - is greatly appreciated too.
