I have been searching for apartments for a while now and am to the point that I could use some suggestions. I currently live in the Southpark area with a roommate, but she will be leaving for her job and I can't afford to keep my current apartment alone. I could remain in my complex, and just move to a one bedroom, but I'm trying to see if I can find something I will like better. Considering I will be a female living alone, safety and the neighborhood is a big priority. On top of that is space. Our apartment now is nearly 1400 sq. feet so I'm looking to stay at the upper 700s or more for a one bedroom. Price range is preferably under $700 (and the cheaper the better if it is still a safe neigborhood). Currently there are two locations I am considering yet they are in completely opposite directions (however my office location is somewhat centered between them). Any comments about the Arboretum Apartments or the Village at Lake Wylie would be greatly appreciated or any suggestion about comparable complexes would also be great. Thanks.

On-line there are some mixed reviews about the Village at Lake Wylie. If you do a search for Village at Lake Wylie reviews - you will find them. I have a friend that lived there while their house was being built close by and I guess some of the tenants are a little questionable.

I am moving to Fort Mill next week to Peach Tree place apartments. They were my favorite after looking at all of them. I have heard nothing but positive things about them from several people I know that live there. I am also a single female and want to feel safe where I live. Since I do not live there quite yet - I can only give you my perception when I visited - but you might check them out. They are older - but have nice layouts and floor plans - search Peachtree Place apartments and you will find their website. The office staff has been very nice and helpful arranging everything long distance.

I had seen the mixed reviews for the Village, but I had also seen that most complex have that to an extent. It's good to hear from someone who actually knows someone that had lived there though to get a decent perception of it. I figured I was going to drive through the areas I was interested in at different times of the day and evening to see just how questionable it is at each place and hopefully find somewhere I feel comfortable. Thanks for your input, and I will definitely keep that place in mind, though I am attempting to pick a location that I can avoid the use of I-77 without significantly increasing the travel time to work

That sounds like a good plan. The Village looks nice from the outside from what I saw - and I liked the floor plan as well. If you are wanting to avoid 77 - then Peachtree Place may not be for you. Good Luck!

village at lake wylie does shorter term leases too. my parents lived there while there a house in lake wylie was being built. i think they did a 3 month and went month to month. yes, there are some questionable beings around but like you said, they're everywhere

something to think about... there is no light at the entrance/exit of the village apts and turning left on hwy 49 in the morning can be very tricky. not sure what times you would be leaving but i would certainly drive it during the times you would be leaving so you know what to expect.

good luck!

good luck!

I moved from Minneapolis in September and I have no problem whatsoever with the Village at Lake Wylie. Sometimes the kids playing outside can be a pain but I haven't experienced any crime or inadequate services since I've been here.

BTW... don't go out the entrance near the front. Use the gated entrance near the back right next door to the CVS. They have a stoplight there and you can easily make a left turn. It took me a good week to figure that one out...
