Description: Renamed the Regions Tradition (formerly the Regions Charity Classic), this major stop on the Champions Tour is a Birmingham event that draws some of the biggest names in golf. It is the first of five major championships on the Champions Tour. As Birmingham is known for its support of the sport of golf, the event is a hot ticket in town. The tournament was previously played at the Robert Trent Jones Trail at Ross Bridge in Hoover, Alabama, but in 2011 organizers changed both the location as well as the event’s name. Past champions of the Tradition include greats like Jack Nicklaus, Raymond Floyd, Tom Watson, and Lee Trevino. Shoal Creek, a Jack Nicklaus–designed golf course, hosted two PGA Championships in 1984 and 1990. It is widely recognized as one of the country’s great courses. Children’s Hospital of Alabama is the primary focus of the event’s charitable contributions.
