Address: 1632 Oxmoor Rd.

Description: A celebration of the history and heritage of this small Birmingham suburb, We Love Homewood Day is just what it purports to be: an opportunity for residents to sound their own horn a bit and show what a great place the city is to live. Usually alternating between Patriot Park and Central Park, the day of festivities includes a colorful parade from the Homewood Public Library to the Edgewood Business District where a Quality of Life award is given to a local citizen of note. Children line the parade route waiting for the inevitable candy thrown from passing antique cars and trucks. A festival with carnival rides, games, and fun is held in the park. A Family Street Dance with live music in Edgewood at the intersection of Broadway Street and Oxmoor Road is the culminating event as the streets are closed to traffic and hundreds in the nearby neighborhoods walk and push strollers to Edgewood to join in the festivities.
