Description: Located next to the historic Alabama Theatre in the former Loveman’s Department Store, the McWane Science Center is an interactive educational science museum. Although most of the exhibits are geared towards children, it’s not uncommon to catch Mom or Dad enjoying themselves while learning something new. And with four floors filled with fun and educational exhibits, there are plenty of new things to learn and discover. With everything from the “World of Water Aquarium” to the “Challenger Learning Center,” the McWane Science Center covers most kids’ intellectual curiosity—and then some. Also located within the McWane Science Center is Birmingham’s only IMAX domed theater. In addition to educational documentaries, the IMAX also plays feature-films released in IMAX.
