Description: For 25 years Space One Eleven has cultivated and fostered artistic creation in downtown Birmingham with brilliant results, supporting such well-known artists as Darius Hill and Derek Franklin. Through its various arts education programs, Space One Eleven has fostered childhood creativity and contributed to the local community in the process. If you knew 2nd Avenue North before Space One Eleven, you might have a hard time recognizing it afterwards. Space One Eleven long ago recognized the implications for society if art is removed from our schools and communities and took it upon itself to ensure that Birmingham’s children would not be without art. For their efforts SOE was honored as a member of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the first southern studio to be so honored. While Space One Eleven specializes in arts education, it also holds several exhibits a year on a variety of provocative, stimulating subjects.
