2. Plumas Pines Golf Club

City: Blairsden, CA
Category: Golf
Telephone: (530) 836-1420
Address: 402 Poplar Valley Road

Description: This golf resort is open to the public and is one of the most popular around if you are a low-handicap player. Another “twofaced” course (distinctively different front and back nines), it has a front nine that lies in a valley surrounded by lots of water and a narrow, hilly back nine that climbs into the pines. One of the best-manicured courses in the Sierra, it demands a high level of play. Water exists on 11 holes, and it has several blind doglegs. The greens are heavily bunkered, and houses parallel many of the holes, making accuracy your prime objective. The signature hole is the 395-yard par 4 No. 9 with its view across a small lake to the clubhouse, which sits on a hill overlooking the course. The most difficult hole may be the 18th, with a double dogleg, an uphill approach, and a tiered green. Some of the holes on this course are the most difficult of all the courses in the area. This golf club is usually open from May through October. Yardage: 5,894 Par: 72 USGA rating: 68.5 Slope: 123 Greens fees: $55 to $95 Reservations: No limitations
