Description: Valle Verde’s 65-acre campus rests in the hills of the serene Hidden Valley neighborhood near Hope Ranch and Arroyo Burro (Hendry’s Beach). It’s owned and operated by American Baptist Homes of the West, a nonprofit corporation that has provided retirement housing and health care services since 1949. Valle Verde opened in 1966 and today offers several levels of care. Many residents ride bikes, golf carts, or enjoy strolling around the flat, sprawling campus, which seems like a country club on a golf course. Amenities include a solar-­heated pool and Jacuzzi, library, theater, private dining room, beauty/barber shop, and a convenience store. It also has a putting green, fitness center, hiking trails to the surrounding foothills, and city bus service. Activities include adult education and exercise classes. All the apartments are ground-­floor units with private patios and feature an emergency call system that connects directly with Valle Verde’s Health Center, where registered gerontology professionals are always available. The wellness department offers a daily nursing clinic, and the dietary department can design a special diet if required.If your needs change, you can move to assisted living accommodations in Quail Lodge or to the Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility. Each spacious suite in Quail Lodge has a living area and private bath, along with a call bell system that connects you with staff 24 hours a day. The lodge serves 3 meals a day in a private dining room, and meals are tailored to the individual dietary requirements of each resident. It also provides housekeeping and maintenance services as well as activities. At the Health Center, licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants are on duty around the clock, providing postoperative and rehabilitative care and other support services. Valle Verde also provides enhanced care for residents with Alzheimer’s and other mild dementia in private apartments with specially trained staff available 24 hours a day. Valle Verde welcomes pets.
