Description: Take two theater companies, add a million dollars and an old building, and you get the newest theatrical venue in Sonoma County—the 6th Street Playhouse. After moving from venue to venue for more than 20 years, two longtime acting troupes now have a permanent home to showcase their talents. The Santa Rosa Players and Actors Theatre teamed up in 2004 to renovate a former cannery building more than 100 years old in Santa Rosa’s historic Railroad Square, where they collaborate and present semiprofessional and community theater productions. One month it might be the Actors Theatre mounting a staging of Stones in His Pockets or other experimental shows; the next month it could be a rousing production of such classic musicals as Little Shop of Horrors or The Grapes of Wrath. Ticket prices range from $14 for children to $26 for adults at weekend performances.
