Description: Peanuts creator Charles Schulz didn’t live long enough to see this museum dedicated to his legacy come to life (he died in early 2000), but he would be humbled by the result. Adjacent to Schulz’s Redwood Empire Ice Arena (see previous listing), the $8 million museum opened in 2002. Within its 27,000 square feet are permanent and temporary displays of the cartoonist’s 50-year body of work; a research library and archives for students, cartoonists, and scholars; and classrooms. Worth seeing is the 17-by-22-foot mural crafted from more than 3,500 individual Peanuts comic strips printed on ceramic tiles. Also on display is the wooden drawing board where Schulz drew his one-dimensional characters, in a re-creation of his art studio. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and children under 18, and free for toddlers. Closed Tuesday.
