Description: Golden Circle offers seniors a low-cost, nutritious, delicious hot noon meal. Sponsored by the Housing Authority of the City of Colorado Springs with funding from federal, state, and city grants as well as charitable donations, Golden Circle lunches are served at 24 locations throughout the Pikes Peak region. Intended as a way to help seniors live independently and enjoy time with others, Golden Circle serves about 800 to 1,000 meals every weekday and on Sunday, and a kosher meal is served at a local temple two days a week. The menu changes daily and can feature baked ham, sweet potatoes, and spinach to bratwurst, cabbage, and rye bread. Diners must qualify by being 60 years or older and a few other requirements. There is a minimal suggested cost, but no eligible diner is turned away because of inability to pay. A punch card offering a discount of the suggested cost is available. Reservations are appreciated at most Golden Circle sites, which range from churches to community centers to senior housing developments.
