Description: On April 7, 1921, a group of 36 people in Massachusetts met to form the American Orchid Society. Ninety years later the society is still around and we’re lucky enough to have it in Palm Beach County. The society views its mission as promoting and supporting the passion for orchids through education, conservation, and research. At this quiet, out-of-the-way corner of Delray Beach—adjacent to another quiet spot, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens—you can discover the beautiful, exotic, and complex world of orchids. Here you’ll find rare orchids growing as they do in the wild. You can wander through lush gardens woven throughout 3.5 acres, and see exquisite orchids in a 4,000 square foot greenhouse. The array of colors, shapes, sizes, and fragrances is stunning. After touring the gardens, you can stop into the Orchid Emporium Gift Shop or enjoy orchid art exhibits in the lobby.
