Description: A stylish four-story hotel opened in January 2009, the Holiday Inn Express is built on Native American–owned land, opposite the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The hotel’s chic lobby area feels more designer Mexico than corporate chain, and there’s a comfortable lounge. The 108 guest rooms and 27 suites have a sleekly elegant 1930s look, and all rooms are furnished with flat-screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, and free wireless Internet access. Three of the suites feature whirlpool baths. Complimentary breakfast is served in a spacious breakfast room, and amenities include a fitness center, indoor swimming pool and whirlpool, laundry room, and business center for e-mail, Internet, printing, and copying. A neighboring retail and restaurant development is due to be built, but meanwhile there’s a good restaurant just a few steps away at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (see Restaurants chapter). The hotel is about 1.5 miles from Old Town Plaza. If you have a car, these smart and reasonably priced accommodations are conveniently located to access the areas and attractions of interest to a visitor, and it’s quick to hop onto I-40. The Bureau of Indian Affairs lies next door, too, making the hotel a convenient stop for business travelers to the BIA.
