The Santa Fe Century Bicycle Ride - Annual Events & Festivals - Santa Fe, New Mexico

City: Santa Fe, NM
Category: Annual Events & Festivals
Telephone: (505) 982-1282

Description: More than 2,600 bicyclists pedal down the Turquoise Trail, through the old mining towns of Madrid and Golden, across the Estancia Valley to the villages of Cedar Grove, Stanley, and Galisteo, and back into Santa Fe. You also can sign on for 25-, 50-, or 75-mile loops. The idea here is to have fun, and toward that end, organizers offer detailed maps, sag wagons (vans to pick up tired riders), and a van with a bike mechanic. You can stop for snacks and water along the route and purchase a blue-corn pancake breakfast in the Christus St. Vincent Hospital parking lot at the start of the trail. The ride traditionally happens on the third Sunday of May. Entry fees benefit the Leukemia Society of America. A strong rider completes the trip in four or five hours, to the cheers of friends and family who may be waiting at the finish line.
