Description: This Santa Fe day spa opened in July 2004. The vision of owner Lorin Parrish, who founded and directed Santa Fe’s top-rated New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts, BODY is a completely new kind of bodywork center. Its aim? To be an affordable community gathering place for those interested in wellness. BODYSpa offers Swedish massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Somatic Polarity, Orthobionomy, Thai Massage, Rolfing, Chair Massage, and Acupuncture, as well as facials and body scrubs using BODY’s own formulations. BODY also features a state-of-the-art movement studio with several unique offerings, including yoga classes for all ages. Other classes and workshops include Nia dance and meditation weekend intensives. Evening events have included kirtan chanting by award-winning musicians such as Jai Uttal and Shantala, as well as multi-instrument Gong Baths. Showers are available for an extra fee. Child-care specialists in early childhood education staff the Little Body Child Care center (see entry in our Education and Child Care chapter) six days a week. BODY carries a full line of organic cotton workout clothing; CDs; natural candles; books on health care; massage lotions and potions; and bodywork tables, linens, and accessories. Recently, BODY cafe, the best place in Santa Fe to find raw food meals, sweets, and hors d’oeuvres, has expanded into an attractive space and offers entertainment in the evenings.
