Description: For more than 90 years Long Island University has been giving its students the opportunity to pursue higher education. What the school offers is a multi-campus, diverse, doctoral institution of higher learning. Long Island University is one of the largest private universities in the country, with approximately 590 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs and certificates. It educates over 24,000 students in degree-credit and continuing education programs through its Brooklyn, Brookville (C. W. Post), Brentwood, Riverhead, Rockland, Westchester, and Southampton campuses.For example, the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences helps to prepare students for successful careers in the fields of pharmacy and health care, while the university Global College offers a wide range of study-abroad options at overseas centers in countries like China, Costa Rica, India, Japan, and South Africa. To help foster the educational process, Long Island University has almost 650 full-time faculty members. As of 2009 the university had more than 167,000 alumni who have gone on to pursue careers in many different fields and industries around the world.

Description: The Long Island University–C. W. Post Campus was founded back in 1954 to accommodate the educational needs of World War II veterans living in Nassau County. As of 2009 the school had 5,672 undergraduate and 3,099 graduate students enrolled. The student body is diverse and comes from 38 states and 48 countries. One interesting statistic is that only about 35 percent of the student body attending classes at the university is male. Along with the full-time students, each year approximately 2,300 additional students enroll in continuing education courses offered at the school. Currently the school offers 104 programs leading to a baccalaureate; 75 programs leading to a master’s; 58 programs leading to a dual degree (bachelor’s/master’s); and 3 academic programs leading to a doctorate. For the full-time undergraduate students, degrees offered at the C. W. Post Campus include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Music, and Associate in Arts. On the graduate level, degrees offered include Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Business Administration, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Public Administration, Master of Science in Education, Master of Science in Library and Information Science, Doctor of Psychology, Master of Social Work, Doctor of Philosophy in Information Studies, and Doctor of Education in Interdisciplinary Educational Studies.This is a private educational institution that is generally recognized for its quality academic programs, renowned faculty, and cooperative education program, not to mention its beautiful 307.9-acre campus located on Long Island’s Gold Coast. In addition to focusing on academics, the school has 15 NCAA men’s and women’s sports teams, most of which utilize the school’s 70 acres of playing fields, and the Pratt Recreation Center, which is a modern athletic facility that’s equipped with an eight-lane swimming pool, three-court gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, weight room, fitness center, and multiple dance studios, as well as racquetball courts and an elevated jogging/walking track.
