The International Environmental Data Rescue Organization (IEDRO) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to seek historic environmental data throughout the world, "rescuing" it from the deterioriating media on which it currently exists (i.e. paper, microfilm, microfiche, magnetic tape) and digitizing those data so that they can be available to every researcher and euducator and scientist in the world. We have already rescued and digitized over 1,000,000 old weather observations from Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal and Zambia in Africa and from Chile, The Dominican Republic and Uruguay in this hemisphere. These data are critical for decreasing starvation throughout the world, forecasting the spread of airborne diseases like malaria which kills 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 children and elderly each year, helping scientists to determine the extent and spread of global warming and climate change in general and a host of other benefits. We are a 100% volunteer organization with 27 volunteers throughout the U.S. and many overseas countries. Check us out at http://IEDRO.ORG
