- Against The Grain Furniture, Inc. is a locally owned Furniture maker and retailer. Four friends make up the entire company. Scott Hamel, Mary Needham, Joe Nuckols and Bill Fulcrod. We have a small store in Lakeside and a shop in Scott's Addition where Scott and Joe make all the furniture. We make furniture to the customers specifications and have our own style were customers can choose from 20 different stains. Customers can provide their own plans or we can design for them. Customers can also choose from any available woods from cherry to pine. Custom cabinets are also available. These are truly custom, handmade cabinets. Flush inset doors offer a true value over factory overlay doors. Joe has been doing cabinets for 35 years and is truly a pro. We are a unique change from the big furniture companies. you can actually talk to the people that make your furniture and will be able to appreciate true American quality.
