Located 5 miles east of Brooker, Shady Oak Butterfly Farm raises butterflies for butterfly releases at weddings, celebrations, memorials, and other events.
Tours are available 10AM Fridays and Saturdays from March 21 through November 1. Field trips and other special tours should be pre-scheduled. The nursery specializes in butterfly host and nectar plants. The 30x40 Florida native butterfly exhibit ($2) is open Monday through Saturday from March 21 through November 1. In April the butterfly farm hosts a Spring Butterfly Festival. Butterfly Garden Baskets, metamorphosis on your desktop, may be ordered either at the farm, by email, ot by telephone. Shady Oak provides butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises, and adult butterflies to students, teachers, and universities as well as various butterfly exhibits throughout the country.
