How is my practice different? I have a unique interest in the correlation between the immune, endocrine (hormone) and neuropsychiatric systems. For women, the interaction of these systems becomes more pronounced during their reproductive cycles; menstruation, pregnancy, the postpartum period, and menopause. I have successfully treated many female patients who come to see me during these reproductive transitions. I have special interest and addtional training in treatment of obsessive compulsive disorders and severe anxiety disorders. When appropriate, I attempt to coordinate and encourage complementary and alternative approaches and treatments for patients. Although I do incorporate supportive therapy into my sessions, I appreciate the importance of working with my patient's therapists to coordinate care. While I do not contract with insurance companies, I do assist my patients by providing the paperwork necessary to submit into their insurance carriers for reimbursement. Practicing this way allows me to focus on providing my patients with more substantial and longer sessions than many other psychiatrists. Additionally, it ensures complete patient confidentiality for patients who elect not to notify their insurance carriers or employers of provided care. Our initial evaluation session will generally last one hour. Half hour follow up sessions will be scheduled unless one hour sessions are requested.
