When Thomas passed away, his wife, Marion M. Welby, successfully ran the trucking company for 18 years. She went on to earn the respect of industry leaders from around the country-all at a time when it was very uncommon for a woman to be a president or CEO of a trucking company. After a successful career, she passed the reins to their son, Tom Jr., who took over as president and CEO. Tom's keen business sense, passion, and energy guided the trucking company through the years until his passing in December of 2000.
