PILOT REPORTED HE WAS DESCENDING THRU ABOUT 4,000 FEET IN IMC WHEN HE SAW A BLACK FLASH AND HEARD AND FELT A TREMENDOUS THUD. AFTER ASSESSING THE DAMAGE, THE FLT CREW DECIDED TO RETURN TO GKY AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY 25 MINS. LATER. SUBSTANTIAL DAMGE FOUND. DAMAGE TO L WING LEADING EDGE, CRUSHED OUTBOARD OF STALL FENCE, LEFT WING SPAR, LEFT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER LEADINGE EDGE, HIT SEVERAL BIRDS. LANDED W/O INCIDENT. NTSB INVESTIGATED. A/C WILL BE OUT OF SERVICE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS DUE TO PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE.
