The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts


California is a varied state where it is possible to drive from the desert to the beach all in one day. With such a long history and varied landscape, visitors may want to learn more. The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts in Sacramento, California explores California's rich and amazing properties. The museum officially opened in 1998 with a public- private partnership agreement.

Exhibits at the museum include the CA Hall of Fame, Constitution Wall, CA Legacy Trail, and The Central Valley Turns on: Psychedelic Poster Art. Some of the exhibits are temporary such as Extreme Engineering and California Canines. Throughout the year, they offer a variety of museum events to get public interest and to find support to keep adding to the museum. The facility can be rented for private functions.

Admission is $8.50 for adults, $7 for seniors/ college students, and $6 for ages 6-13. Museum hours are 10am to 5pm Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours are 12pm to 5pm. The museum store opens at the same time as the museum, but closes 15 minutes prior to museum closing. Closures on major holidays are also possible.
