Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

When difficulties come against us we call those things that are not as though they were, remembering our power and authority that are part of our Christ identity. We begin to recognize that beneath our vacillations is a layer of spiritual strength and hope that had been deposited within us through His death and resurrection -- which is confirmed by the finished work of the cross.

We need only to realize that we are a new creation -

that old things have passed away

Advance And Accelerate

Posted 08-03-2023 at 10:50 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Isaiah 48:6 - "....I have made you hear new things from this time. Even hidden things, and you did not know them."

The Spirit of God encourages each of us to advance -- drawing us ever closer to our Lord to move in power, and to take the Kingdom for the King! Our day is a day of swift shift; a spiritually radical revolution in our perspective is at the door. We expect God to display His mighty deeds in doing new things (Isaiah 48:6).

God doesn't test us in order to punish us. God doesn't delight in our suffering. God tests us to make sure that we are worthy of stewarding His promises well. We cannot bring forth the purpose of God for our life until we have submitted to the fiery tests of preparation that result in our brokenness, dependency, and radical obedience to God.

You shouldn't say things about yourself that God says are not true. eg. "I am a work in Progress" (false humility) Colossians...

Pressing On To More Of The Lord

Posted 08-03-2023 at 12:28 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

"And a woman who had a hemorrhage (KJV "an issue") for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind Him, and touched the fringe of His cloak; and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. And Jesus said, 'Who is the one who touched Me?' And while they were all denying it, Peter said, 'Master, the multitudes are crowding and pressing upon You.' But Jesus said, 'Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me.'

And when the woman saw that

Expectation Is From Him

Posted 08-02-2023 at 08:43 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him." - Psalm 62:5

When things are going a different direction, we have to know that our reality is -- to fellowship with the Living God.

Where are you with Him this day? Are you where He can give you right thinking and right understanding? Are you so close that you know His purpose for your life, and the message He will send you to carry?

Affirm your oneness with Him. Learn to...
