Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Extravagance

Posted 11-16-2010 at 09:23 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

John 2:3-5 -- When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to Him, "They have no more wine."
"Why do you involve me?" Jesus replied, "My time has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you."

Jesus attended a wedding where they ran out of wine. As yet He hadn't performed any of the wonders for which He would later become known.

Mary knew who her son was and what was possible...her faith so touched...

The Great Confession

Posted 11-15-2010 at 06:41 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Romans 10:10 -- For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

When you believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord -- when you received Him as your saviour -- that is called the "Great Confession".

But if you do not know how to fight the good fight of faith -- How to stay in the faith fight until you win -- your confession becomes null, void, powerless, and of no...

Ascending And Descending

Posted 11-14-2010 at 08:40 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Revelation 4:1,2 -- After these things, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, "come up here, and I will show you what must take place after theses things. "Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne.

A sign in front of a church said "We Are Just A Waiting Room For Heaven."
That is not what we are...

Calling Others Out

Posted 11-13-2010 at 08:45 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Matthew 5:8 -- Blessed (happy, enviably fortunate, and spiritually prosperous - possessing the happiness produced by the experience of God's favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His grace, regardless of their outward conditions) are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!

When we see ourselves for whom we truly are meant to be in God, we can begin to call others out of their limited ways into seeing the limitless reality that is available to them in Christ.

Scattering The Burning Coals Abroad

Posted 11-12-2010 at 05:52 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Matthew 24:12 -- And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

Satan wants you to become the temperature of the culture that surrounds you, a believer bound by a stone cold heart. By exposure to hardness and darkness in the times that we live in, our love and passion will begin to cool by degrees.

When you see churches and individuals who do not have the energy to reach out, it's an indication that their love has grown cold.

In numbers...
