Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Where Is Our Focus?

Posted 11-05-2010 at 05:12 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

1 Corinthians 1:9 -- God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on.)

Seeds of affirmation, meditation, prayer, works, giving and other acts of obedience are ready to burst forth in bud and fruit.

Harvest awaits those who do not yield to discouragement and remain consistent in obedience and diligence.

Grasshoppers of discouragement will assault us when we're weary. Our strength is diminished when...

Seated With Christ In Heavenly Places

Posted 11-04-2010 at 05:01 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Revelation 4:1 -- After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things"

That voice is still calling to all who will hear. There is a door open in heaven and the spirit is beckoning us to come up there.

The ultimate quest of every Christian is to walk the earth from a position...

Proving Ourselves

Posted 11-03-2010 at 04:53 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Exodus 16:4 -- Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law or no.

God took a little insignificant matter, the food they ate -- and used it to see if they would listen to Him or not. He told them how much of it to gather, when to gather and when not to, and what to do with it after the brought it in.

And the Israelites...

Who Is Faithful?

Posted 11-02-2010 at 05:51 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

2 Chronicles 17:9 -- For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him...

The word tells us that God shows Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are "perfect" toward Him. "Perfect does not mean that we have to do everything just right and live without making a mistake. I means "devoted" -- a heart consecrated, dedicated, loyal and faithful to God.

Building The Inner Image

Posted 11-01-2010 at 04:19 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Romans 15:13 -- May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing -- through the experience of your faith --that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.

Hope is a divine dream. It's an inner image that's bigger than you are because it's built on the promises of God.

Example

If the doctor told you that you will never walk, then you see yourself climbing mountains and bringing...
