The Houston Heights or ‘The Heights’ is known for being an active community that enforces deed restrictions, full of historic homes and sites. Well known for planning and hosting the annual the Lights of the Heights event. When founded It was an alternative for people that wanted to live outside of the city. Before it was annexed to the City of Houston in 1919 it had its own municipality. And... It was ranked #4 by CNN Money in the Top 10 big city neighborhoods ranking.

It is located 4 miles northwest of Downtown Houston; just north of Interstate 10, East of North Shepherd, South of Interstate 610 and west of both North Main and Studewood St. according to the Houston Heights Association. Mainly zip code 77008 and part of zip code 77007 and 77009. Harris County. Great commute to Galleria, Medical Center, Houston’s Inner Loop, downtown Houston and major highways.

Schools: The Heights is served by HISD (Houston Independent School District). This list of schools that serve portion of Houston Heights include:

Elementary Schools: Crockett, Field, Harvard, Helms Community Learning Center (Elementary School), Love, and Sinclair.
Middle schools: Hamilton and Hogg
High Schools: Heights High School (Formerly John H Reagan High School) and Waltrip High School.

The Arabic Language Immersion School, a magnet elementary school, it covers currently elementary school grades. Each student spends half of his or her day learning in English and the other half learning in Arabic.
Charter schools: Houston Heights Learning Academy, Houston Heights High School
Private Schools: The New School in the Heights K-9, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School K-8, Houston Outdoor Learning Academy 6-12

Amenities and Recreation
Millroy Park and Community Center offering a playground and lighted tennis court.
Love Park and Community Center - The Park offers outdoor basketball pavilion, a 0.2-mile hike and bike trail, playground, lighted sports field and a swimming pool. The Community Center offers an indoor gymnasium, meeting rooms, and weight room.
