Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

More From Austin: Gotta Have A Round Rock Donut
Posted 10-22-2016 at 10:15 PM by case44
I've been meaning to write this in here, but I just haven't had the time. My previous post had me sharing a little of last week's road trip to Austin. The funny thing is, I took to the road having had just a couple hours of sleep, but I'd already had it planned no matter what my work schedule had going.
Anyway, great time by me. Weather cooperated great. And..........I needed some Round Rock Donuts. Look, The Casester could not help himself. Too much time had gone by and that water tower with the beacon light could not wait any longer. It's right across from Round Rock Donuts and it just adds to the flair of a donut breakfast in my car at 5 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Then, I'd complement my donuts with a Starbucks latte at my favorite such stop about two miles away. After that, I'd just park at a nearby McDonald's (Hey, they've got lighting in the parking lot and there are a few cars...) and enjoy my donuts and coffee. That's the best part --- or one of the best --- of an early-morning road trip. Nothing like a soft, gooey, orange-and-yellow Round Rock donut or four to soothe the almost-savage beast.
Also, I took in some sights around town before stopping for some Salt Lick barbecue in Round Rock before returning back home. Since Saturdays will now become part of my work schedule, there can always be Sundays where I can take the car and do it again. Road trips any time of the week are special as they are.
