Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Stopping At Discount Tire Repeatedly Was Getting Tiresome

Posted 07-10-2020 at 05:44 PM by case44

In all the years that this writer has taken road trips, I thought I'd seen it all. Now, your road tripper can add one more feather in his cap.

I know that, sometimes, tire pressure can fluctuate with changes in weather. But during my road trip in San Angelo, Texas, I had never seen what I've experienced by seeing my tire pressure light on and off more often than your child in the backseat repeatedly asking, "Are we there yet?". For the life of me, I think this week alone had set an all-time record of three visits to Discount Tire in the central part of San Angelo near downtown. That's right, sports fans. Three. I guess I led the major leagues in tire issues. This trip was turning into Mystery Theater, with the solution to the tire problem happening on the very last morning that I was in San Angelo. After all the adjustments the guys at Discount Tire had to make with the air pumps, the light came back on on the last night in Angelo. The right rear tire had been losing pressure, according to the guys, but it was still intact on that night. The next morning, however, was a different story, but I didn't realize it until I'd arrived at my breakfast site. I wondered what that strange noise was as I was driving. Guess what? The aforementioned right rear tire? It was flat.

Some vacation this was. I spent more time, seemingly, at Discount Tire than I did at any one tourist spot.

Discount Tire was getting a third visit from me that morning after I had finished my breakfast. The peculiar property is that no one had told me the cause of the flat or that there was any debris at all in that right rear tire. As it turned out, the tire had to be replaced. Problem solved, and, thankfully, that damaged tire was still under warranty. Nineteen dollars was all this gizzard had to pay. This could have been worse had it happened sooner. There could have been a blown tire or something else out where there isn't a Discount Tire.

But, at it was, too little, too late. The diagnosis ended up with multiple visits. It didn't really have to be that way, considering that I had to stop at another Discount Tire the previous week here at home with alleged pressure issues. That light just came on and off. It had been hard to tell. Nonetheless, the adventure and the tire caper were finally put to rest.

And that clears the air....

Scary and lucky. You'd just hate to be in the middle of nowhere with a tire like that.
