Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

H-E-B Expanding Further Into D/FW, But Closer To My Mom's House Than Mine
I'll preface with this: At least, H-E-B is making some progress.
The San Antonio-based grocer is expanding further into the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and I've said previously that they need to get more aggressive. Well, they're deciding things to fall in in two years now. H-E-B is finally delving into the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area (That's right, sports fans; H-E-B is coming to H-E-B), and they'll set their sights on opening a location in Euless next to Glade Parks. Looking at the middle of 2026 for that opening, which means they'll be breaking ground about a year from now. The same will be true with a new store in Murphy, east of Plano but rapidly growing.
I've previously made predictions for where I think H-E-B will break ground next, and in a way, two of the places I predicted would come true. The other two locations are Carrollton and Corinth, and I still have this gut feeling that the grocer will look to break ground in those cities very soon. For now, H-E-B's Euless location, once built, will be close to my mother's house in Bedford. Until they decide to build in Carrollton (which will be closest to my apartment dwelling), I'm going to continue shopping at the grocer's Frisco location.
So, for this year, H-E-B will have the groundbreaking for Rockwall just any day now. Elsewhere, they'll be opening stores in Mansfield very soon, Southwest Dallas (as a Joe V's Smart Shop) this summer, and north Frisco at FM Road 423 at U.S. Highway 380 late this summer. Upcoming locations in Melissa and Prosper are already underway with construction and will have openings slated for next year.
This is all why I'm holding out hope that H-E-B still wants to do some more groundbreakings before this calendar year ends. Stay tuned to Case's Column, and I'll have the latest.
