Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

The Surprise That Even Your Writer Was Not Expecting
Posted 04-27-2023 at 07:26 PM by case44
We all like surprises. You do, too. Anyone who's anyone would think that a surprise is often a good thing, especially when same might not be expecting anything.
Clarity is kind. Usually.
The thing that happened at Parcel Pending at my humble apartment complex pretty much told the tale on this Thursday. I was getting e-mails from Parcel Pending telling me that I had a package from FedEx. Now, I wasn't really expecting anything from anyone, and nobody I knew told me recently that I would have something coming. No matter, though. Your writer got his big body up from his chair and proceeded down the steps from the abode to the delivery boxes. I typed in the code and then the door from a pretty-good-sized box locker swung open. Ol' Case walks over to see what the surprise is. I looked inside, and all I saw was........
Nothing.
That's right, sports fans. Nothing. Zilch. A mirage. A nothingburger. Hey, Case, come pick up your nothing over here at Parcel Pending. I'm really enjoying my nothing. It's the nicest nothing I had ever seen in my life. Why, I should just get two or three more nothings for my birthday. I'll just put those on my list. And just think, it even comes unwrapped!
Imagine an April Fool's joke being played twenty-six days too late.
Now, rest easy, gentle readers. I'll be fine. Actually, this is no real loss, since, after all, I didn't really expect anything. FedEx might have just made an error, or it could be that they just might be bluffing. That package might as well belong to someone else.
I can see it now. Surprise! Enjoy your nice nothing! Believe it or not, that was something to laugh at.
