Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Put Your (Minute) Hands Together

An observation was made by this writer while at work recently. Something significantly important needed to be fixed and was annoyingly out of place. As a matter of fact, this thing has been going on for the last few weeks, and nobody had done anything about it. No one noticed, no one cared enough, and no one stepped up, stood in the gap, and was just danged proactive in making sure that a certain act needed to get done.

Nobody.

Until yesterday. That's right. Yesterday (NOTE: As you read this, that would be Thursday, July 24). And once it was done, it felt good again.

You see, in my dispatch area at work, we have four clocks that give the times in four U.S. time zones (Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern). They look really good and very professional and office-like...........when the minute hand is the same on all of them. Two clocks were correct, and two more were way off. And one of them did not even have close to the correct time, being a few hours off. I had brought this up to my supervisor and one of the leads several weeks ago, but nothing was done. So, to my amazement, I actually saw one of our dispatch leads finally go up to the Central and Eastern time zone clocks and proceed to straighten out the problem on both of them. And, voila! We can tell time properly again. Tony Pruitt is officially my hero. He will have earned his dinner the moment I take him to Olive Garden next week.

Now, at long last, everything is under control. And all is right, at least temporarily, with the world once again.

Please send Tony to my house. I have a LOT of clocks, and at least half of them are giving the wrong time.
    One I couldn't fix...........I pulled the plug!
The rest I try not to look at. Sometimes it drives my company crazy .........Tony.........Please stop by.
