doggie quirks part II

I was just thinking about his oddities again today...
Whenever I vacuum, or whip out the broom... there he is. All the other dogs I've ever met run away whenever they hear the vacuum. My mom's lab does. Or whenever she sees the broom or the mop. But my little guy actually comes running to me and lays himself right down where I need to vacuum. Or sweep. What is with that? He even puts his nose in my broom pile dust. I have to scoot him out of the way. Literally.
Another quirk he has is sneezing whenever he's dissatisfied. He does it all the time. If we wait too long (like 3 minutes instead of 30 seconds) to open the door after he's done his business, he comes in a' sneezing. Or if we eat all our food without sharing any (because the vet put him on a diet), he walks away sneezing.
And today, with his little nose pressed up against the fence, he watched my son give treats (2 of his treats) to each of the 2 neighbor dogs (they'd been howling, so he wanted to brighten their day) and as soon as he and my son both came back in the house, he did a whole row of sneezes.
Silly dog.

Vacuums and Sneezing.
My American Eskimo Dog "Sadie" loves to hate the vacuum cleaner. We have to send her outside to settle her down. And sneezing... our terrier mix "Jake" started it. Unfortunately for me, my wife recognized the sneezing as a "method of communication" and sought to understand what he was asking for each time. Now Jake has us trained... and the other 3 dogs have caught on. Sneeze for this, sneeze for that. Ugh! I'm a dog trainer, but unfortunately not an effective wife trainer. I've been married 20 years and I make all the decisions in my house...so I decided to do whatever my wife says!Posted 04-16-2009 at 10:00 AM by Randy323
