Special Climate Update: Searing Summer 2009!

Posted 08-12-2009 at 02:53 PM by Adam DeSilvester

So far, to this date, we have seen 47 100 plus degree days here in San Antonio, Texas and we are likely to see atleast a few more before conditions start to finally ease up. Just to let you all know, the record for triple digit degree days in San Antonio was 36 set back in 1998! We blew that one away already.

Also, remember that little weather prediction I made this past fall about this summer being dry and warm? Well, turns out I was exactly correct. However, I will admit that I did not see this miserable and endless string of 100 plus temps. I was only expecting slightly warmer than average temps and with slightly more rainfall than we have been seeing but still below the average rainfall marks.

Not much hope is on the way for us unfortunately. I wish I had better news but it looks like our only chances of rain our some pop ups from the cool front to the North of us or if one of the systems in the atlantic basic steers our direction which it looks like the one closest to us might go into the Gulf! Let's hope that pans out and brings some MUCH needed rainfall!

You all take care and I'll try to post another update when necessary.
