You can just ignore the threads. What probably happens is they go in on the General U.S. forum and if you don't look at the top you miss the political thread. As far as the states these are issues that everyone is dealing with and worrying about in their area.
This is the most talked about issue if there wasn't a problem no one would be talking about it. I can't even go to the grocery store with out hearing about this issue. This is a big concern for lots of people even those who don't post on this forum.
