Most people in the world are not darer skinned.
More like olive skinned and light brown,but not dark as in dark skinned black women.
Asians are the most numerous of any race,and most aren't dark or even dark brown.

All these tanning products and lotions,but they can't come up with the opposite?

The color-thing has nothing to do with colonialism. I am 100% european and my grandmother always said my skin was the best in the family because it was the lightest shade. We weren't colonised. Preference for paler skin has been around since long before colonialism.

Are you capable of understanding that different cultures have different beauty standards? You need to recognize the simple fact that people value the look that represents wealth. Akan women have always worked outside and therefore the wealthiest of us would be darker. Akans never valued white skin prior to colonization. In fact most West African descriptions of Europeans are that they were ugly, stringy-haired beasts with skin even worse than that of the Arabs. Come again. Your European culture is not universal. This is so basic but once again ignorance and arrogance combine to bring out the most ludicrous conclusions.
