Based on the “authority” argument. Meaning I have a PhD or my degree alone qualifies my position so therefore I’m correct. Got it.

The FDA said early on in the pandemic that they would only issue an emergency use authorization (EUA) for a vaccine if that vaccine demonstrated "clear and compelling" effectiveness in a large Phase 3 clinical trial.

The science of Statistics has delivered this clear and compelling evidence.

Alternatively, you could just look at and compare vaccination rates in different countries with their infection rates, percent positivity with coronavirus tests, hospitalization rates, and current public health mandates in place. Countries with poor vaccination numbers are still struggling with this disease, either suffering from a lot of hospital burden or stifling restrictions (Australia).

My community is at 78% eligible (Above age 12) population vaccinated. Not in AL, rather AK. Sometimes people think our state abbreviation is AL though.

It might not be in the right thread to post that one but there's that article who mentionned then the WHO changed some directives about vaccinations to the younger people. https://thecovidblog.com/2021/06/23/...8-hours-later/

The former recommendations was archived on the Wayback Machine and Archive.today to compare with the current page.

Your Republican Governor Ivey says "start blaming the unvaccinated folks' for rise in Covid cases."

What is the matter with the citizens of your state? You haven't even vaccinated 40% of your population, and this while the Delta variant is nipping at your heels. SMH

Alright now Sparky, yes a lot of Alabamians aren’t getting the Vaccine, which isn’t the brightest thing to do, however, I think you need to be worrying about your own people. Looking at the data, SF and Alabama (as well as California in general) they are all rising at the relative same rate. So I recommend you get off your high horse fella.

I would say you have a lot more issues to worry about in California that us poor folks in Alabama do...ie homelessness, Drugs, People leaving the state, Lack of and cost of Electricity, Riots, Fires, lack of water.......
In other words, mind your own business as you certainly have enough at home to be concerned with!

Agree there is no rational excuse to not get the shot, no matter which state. Nearly the whole country has failed in this pandemic. I feel for the healthcare workers who have to see their relentless efforts to save people go by the wayside due to selfishness and arrogance.

She's correct. I have no idea why our state is doing so poorly, other than stubborness. Those who won't vaccinate (other than some that can't or don't want to for health reasons, like pregnant women and other conditions) are taking a huge chance, unnecessarily. I suppose if you live in a rural area and have absolutely no contact with other humans, you can get away with not being vaccinated.

An analogy to vaccination is smoking, which most people nowadays recognize that there should not be smoking sections in restaurants and other public buildings because of second-hand smoke risks and general irritation. You have no right to pass along smoke to others. The same goes with Covid - you have no right to pass it along to others, and it's a LOT more contagious and potentially does more harm than second-hand smoke. You can't see or smell the virus that they may be passing around, but it's certainly there. I'll bet that those who rail against getting the vaccination would got nuts if I sat beside them and fired up a cigarette or cigar.
