I'd like Fall right now, but I don't think my tomatoes and melons do...

We just cover them with plastic during the few frosty nights, and remove the plastic when it warms enough during the day. But more than likely these critters still can get to them when you sleep at night

Hunting season is open for Caribou right now, so you may see a lot of traffic, but still a beautiful drive!

Bummer!

I do like it after the first hard frost and the bugs are history! Out at the cabin all the birds land on the Lake headed South!

I've enjoyed reading all the post of your weather you're experiencing lately in AK.,,, here in MI. where we are at 42 degree latitude, it is 75* & we are starting to receive Fall like weather, with the rain that is coming more frequently we have this time of year, but is to be just at 80* all the rest of the way out through next week Saturday.

Certain flies bite moose on the knees and hind legs. This is very common during the summer.

Yeah, and it's the humidity that really gets to you. The heat sucks pretty bad, but the humidity is just indescribable to someone who hasn't spent a summer down here. I guess kinda like the cold there. It's soul-sucking, can't-breathe heat. That's the only reservation I have about living in the interior is that it gets hot there. I mean, I imagine the dry heat isn't so bad, but the coastal southcentral weather sounds incredible. Especially around Valdez. I honestly wouldn't mind the clouds at all if I could have temps in the 50's and 60's in the summer time.

Luckily, I don't LIVE in Alabama anymore, so the only time I have to put up with this is when I come and visit my parents. It just makes me appreciate living in the mountains that much more when I get back and it's nice and cool, er, decent outside.

Ah...so that's where all the snow in the U.S. comes from. August is the hottest month in most of the country.
