Sorry, couldn't resist. Even though I know what you mean. I am more comfortable in the dark than the light as well. Only a guess, but I am guessing you have light colored eyes as well?

Black out drapes (and/or tin foil) will be your friend. I used to work the midnight shift and it was the only way I could get to sleep after getting home and the sun was up.

Why do you think SAD lights are popular up here during the winter months? Even at the University's clinic there are some of these lights for students to spend time under the lights

Yes, I have blue eyes, plus I grew up in Oregon. Even after many years in California, I still can't stand the constant sun.
