Hello, me and my family are looking to move to Homer or Anchor point soon. Actually we had planned to move this April til I hurt my arm and needed surgery. I am Coming up and looking around around the end of march so I can find housing and check out the areas. Does anyone have any advise as far as housing, part time jobs(for me), full time ( for my wife), things for my children to do ( all are homeschooled)...etc? Thank you in advance.

Why did you pick Homer/Anchor Point? What kind of work are you looking for? Any particular denomination of church?

I wish Id hit the lottery. We were actually looking at chena hot springs first. but it was to far away from medical facilities. but my wife loves the beach and I love to fish so the water was a plus and anchor point is less populated than most places but close enough to what I need. and we"re looking for church of God, Baptist, non denominational (charismatic or modern but not new age). My wife is planning (hoping) to open a candle shop ( I make the candles to keep my hands busy) and essential oils and accessories.

Good thing you took Chena Hot Springs off the list. It is not a town or village. It is a privately owned "resort."

Don't move straight to Homer or Anchor Point without income. Even the bigger towns, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau are risky with our current economic downturn. I wouldn't advise anyone with dependents to move anywhere in the state without a job lined up right now.

Ive read there are some economic issues going on. Not sure of extent of them. Thank you for the heads up on that. If it wasn't for my health id take everyone out into nowhere and just build. Id prefer Homer or anchor point but if cant find moderate work not real sure where we will end up. But I have to get my family out of here. There were 2 murders and a sexual assault last night not a mile from my house. Ever since Haley did that crap with the falg it has gotten fairly nasty around here and I'm way out from town as it is.

You should think about that move up here a bit more. The state is facing a 4 billion dollar deficit this year. They are cutting like crazy. Check for work before you come here.
And just a thought about flag flying. We don't see many rebel flags up here.

Are you a troll? Because you don't sound real. If you're a troll, you need to be more creative. If you're real, you need to stay in SC. Opening a candle shop in Homer is not a good business move.
