For starters no green horn is gonna come waltzing in here, land a crabbing job, and walk away rich. If a new guy is fortunate enough to get a job on a boat...he'll get like a 1% share. If he makes the season, impresses the captain, there is a good chance he can return for the next season. After a couple seasons his share will go up. But never on the first go around. Those days are long gone I'm afraid.

You probably see posts on these very forums that are just ridiculously off base and out of touch with reality. But being rash and/or uninformed doesn't mean you
can't get the $$ together to end up at a port in AK...with a dream...and no reality-based future at all.
