Haha! I think a lot of people are thinking the same thing. But we will survive, and I think we'll be a better city for it. I'm really hoping that once this is all over we can maintain our low energy use.

I really don't think at this moment this is a laughing matter...but then Xa'at doesn't pay an electric bill. Her parents do.

you are so correct. I'm amazed at how much I've learned in such a short time about conserving. I mean I was already doing the conserve on water and recycle trash thing, but I was late, then forced into energy conservation; so perhaps afterall is said and done this could be a somewhat positive thing.
P.S.
I will really be conserving if I can't pay my bill and they turn off my power, eh?

Umm... where did you hear that?

1.) my parents don't pay my electric bill. I lived in housing, which I paid for, and now I'm staying with family while I look for an apartment, which I will pay for.

2.) I didn't say this is a laughing matter. It's not. But I do think this is a chance to make some money for my favorite charity.

Come on now lets be nice, you have to deal with what every day life throws your way. You are doing a good job at conserving and lets hope all others will too, when we lived in Seward we had to go on generator for several months, this was in the 70's granted the fuel wasn't so costly but the pay wasn't that great so I guess it equals out. We survived you might too, depends on where your heads at.

Just remember how to make lemonaide and all will be ok, look on the bright side it's spring into summer no real lights are needed. Time to barbeque, get batteries for the radio and sit back and enjoy, instead of feeling oh poor me.

since when have I ever used the "me" word.
I will be just fine, my energy needs have always been modest, and I'm even greener now than before. It's just there are a lot of young families that live practically hand to mouth because the wages are ridiculous here compared to the cost of living, and this is gonna make it worse, and some have zero recourse. We do make lemons out of lemonade. It's just our way.

Absolutely correct, inasmuch as, on a macro level in this location, there is nowhere to go but up.

Take care, and God bless!

Oh, for Christ's sake, quit ragging on my home. I love this city more than you can possibly imagine and if you don't knock it off I swear to god, I will...

Who doth raggeth?
We are mired in the depths of a crippling "energy crisis," yet thou, Madame, art fixated on thy personal ego-centered sentiments of some idealized, abstract conceptualization. Please examine the big picture.

Oh, the wrath, the frustrated ambition, the brewing barbarism ... please have mercy, I beg of you. Now, as suggested earlier, find a different tribal identifier - the Boston Celtics, perhaps - inasmuch as the current one is contributing to considerable cognitive dissonance on your part. This is not good. We care about your long-term mental health.

While the prospect of some day having to actually pay utility bills is indeed daunting, you are in the enviable position of delaying this burden for an indefinite time frame. Good for you! Use this interval to heal.

Take care, and God bless!
