Come on up, you'd have fun and enjoy your stay here. I met a family from South Carolina last August in Canada, they were AA and asked me a bunch of questions on Alaska when they saw my Alaska plates, they were moving up to Eilson Air Force Base. I often wonder how their first winter went. I'm sure it was a shocker for them, interior can get pretty chilly in the winter.

There's a couple of places for soul food in Fairbanks. Keep in mind, Fairbanks is about 12% Black and that's not bad considering that the uS is 13% Black.

Check it out here:soul food in alaska - Google Search

There is nothing for you to worry about, plenty of AA's in Alaska, the majority of my friends who are AA's are still there and they are longtime residents. People that I grew up with starting from elementary on thru high school.

I say go up for a visit and see for yourself.

I might have to check Alaska one day myself. Seems like a totally different vibe from the rest of the country.

I was going to tell you that, yes, we have Alcoholics Anonymous groups in Alaska. The long winter months may be a reason why.

On the serious side, we do have folks from all the races and colors in Fairbanks. We even have a couple of gangs that have been taking shots at each other lately. Luckily they have been bad shots so far, or maybe very careful since lots of people are armed up here. I would thing this would be a bad place for gangs, since a lot of us (non-criminals) use big guns loaded with big bullets.
