You don't know what you're in for. I, myself, wouldn't do it, despite having experience hiking up mountains in New England. I won't kid myself: I don't have the experience needed to go up Denali. And I value my life. Do yourself a favor and put it off maybe a few years, and get more experience elsewhere, learn survival skills well, and do it legally when you do try it! I dislike the NPS but follow their rules at least on this (I won't kid anyone, I wouldn't follow their gun rules in a place like Denali). Them knowing you're there may save your life. Waiting until you're actually ready to try will only make the accomplishment more rewarding when you do, and your chances of survival would be higher. I hear all the time of people suddenly wanting to hike somewhere or other down here, with little experience or real planning. Luckily, wilderness areas in VT are small and usually they make it out alive, just a bit beat up sometimes. But even here people have died due to weather changes/injuries/etc. And up in Alaska, you generally can't walk in any given direction and eventually find a road or house, in such remote places, like elsewhere in the US.

God, I hope so. I don't want to hear of another poor soul dying alone in the Park.

Afternoon, karibear I am pondering the same thing, though his bio has him at a much younger age.

On the chance that it isn't LT or someone inspired by him...kid, I appreciate the offer of your stash, but don't do this to your mother or to the other people who care about you. Climbing Denali is a worthy goal; one that my own son has, but don't walk into certain death.

In January your were living in Denver, Colorado according to your other posts. Why didn't you climb Pikes Peak? It would have been closer. Plus you wouldn't have had to carry the crops so far.

He needs to do more research in the material realities of trying to conquer Denali.
Climbing Denali can run you around 18 grand. (Transportation, lodging, gear, PAYING THE GUIDES!!!) That's $18,000 bucks. You're not gonna conquer Denali just by showing up with your boy scout rucksack and messkit.
