Metlakala,

MSNBC, CBS (I'm a news junkie) and ABC were running various pieces about it; ABC gave its usual (they're Disney owned and it shows) nebulous take on it, while to CBS and MSNBC's credit (partial, anyway) did bother to explain that ACORN has a few workers who have turned in lists (not mentioning that ACORN is required by law to turn in ALL lists, ficticious names or not, and ACORN flags names in red that it considere suspicious) with dubious names, and these names have been deleted, which at most shows minor voting list problems, and NOT ballot fraud.

But consider two factors, one related to this and ALL US news:

1. FOX is angling this by itself so that the inevitable Obama win will (in their minds at least) be delegitimized.

2.The 2003 (originally brought in 1999) case of Akres v Fox News has freed the American media from presenting facts, as a Florida District Court found that news could be altered for economic reasons by the respective news agencies.

As crazy as that sounds.............

I think you're right; they've been bleating about it for awhile now.

Remember RNC v DNC?

I don't remember diddly. Never heard of either of those. And I could care less about ACORN or any of the bs that goes with it. All I know is it was all over FOX news this morning. They were showing some house in Ohio and some voter registrations. One was Duran Duran on the name. Thats all I know and thats more info than I cared for anyway.

Back then I didn't even vote Republican (I voted for Carter), but I still remember how the "massive build-up" as you call it, worked very well against the Russians. I was a military member at the time.

If you look at the US economy, one of the worst ones the data shows, was Carter's. Inflation was sky high among other problems.

In relation to conservatives and liberals, I consider McCain a liberal because of a lot of bills he has helped the Democrats pass, and these have been numerous.

Here are just a few:
McCain's not really a conservative. - By Jacob Weisberg - Slate Magazine
[Inflation was off the wall: I was selling real estate then, don't even get me started...The rates started coming down about 18 months after Reagan was elected...than God...but it took awhile.

Because I figured you needed some new material to argue about.

Perhaps, if you believe that article, but I don't. There are several versions relating to the reasons why the Soviet Union fell, and most point to several reasons, but a prominent one is their defense budget, which has been estimated at 40%. Perhaps defense build-up alone did not cause their fall, but it certainly was one of the primary factors. The Soviets stretched themselves too thin (East, Cuba, Afghanistan, etc.), and had internal economic problems, poverty, lack of food, etc.
