Blackberries? Not so much. Lousy cell coverage around here, no major carriers, no GMA at all.

Now blueberries, that's another story. Strawberries too!

Not creeps, crepes. Nice thin pancake, rolled with a filling of sweetened sour cream and cream cheese, slathered with the berries of your choice. There used to be a sandwich shop in one of the hotels in St Louis that made the most wonderful ones - great for breakfast after closing up the theater where I worked in high school. Long gone, now, both the hotel and the theater. Gaslight Square exists only in memories.

I figured that. I just got to thinking about them and wondering how they'd taste with high bush crans or salmonberries. Just making myself hungry, that's all.

Default stick with pancakes

I'll stick with blueberry pancakes, they're easy. We made one pie, but after seeing six cups of those hard-earned blues disappear into ONE pie, I think that'll be the last one of those. I've heard of another recipie with granny smith apples and blueberries that only takes a couple of cups, maybe we'll try that one next.

Of course, the first batch was so tasty we had to go out and pick some more.

Lots of work, but very tasty. These are nowhere as sweet as the store-bought, much more tart. They do sweeten up considerably when they're frozen and thawed, and especially when you cook them. They also cook down to a very intense blue as well, and stain like crazy. Yummy!
