It's amazing to me. I've been following the ADN story, and looking at Foxnews.com at the same time and it hasn't made it to the national news. They have a story about a man stealing a teachers lunch out of the lounge, but nothing on this. I'm glad I don't count on them for all my news......

I hear that one, man-guy called me about 10:30 and asked if I'd heard so started looking and only found two partial stories, but ADN seems most accurate with the local news...Maybe Alaska has lost some of the notoriety

You would think some in the media would jump at the chance to throw Alaska back into the news in a negative light. What happens in Alaska, stays in Alaska is fine with me.....

In their defense though, there are terrorist's attacks taking place in India, terrorists threats on NYC subways, and don't forget that President Bush pardoned a turkey today....

According to the ADN, the gunman and one of his victims didn't make it. A sad day...

The holidays are a really bad time for some people. I can only guess that his mental state could not have been healthy and losing his job put him over the edge of sanity. Sad. I feel bad for all their families including the shooters.

*sigh* when will we stop worrying about "why" some crazy person goes off the handle and shoots innocent people? I'm glad the Troopers didn't stop to ask that question. How about we reserve our sympathy for the victims?

We just had a similar incident happen here--thank God, the only person killed was the guy waving the gun around. Sadly, he'd been doing OK lately, trying to repair a checkered past; but hey, he crossed the big line. And no, I am not without pity for the mentally unsound--but Jesus, when you cross that line and threaten/hurt innocents, you lose the right to any sympathy, in my book.

As for feeling bad for the shooter's family--yes, they certainly deserve a prayer. It is not their fault.
