we have been told that we can cross (driving) into Canada with long guns but not hand guns. We can fly up with hand guns. Is it so that people cannot drive into Canada with a hand gun even if you hold a heavy weapons/license to conceal?? anyone of you know for sure or where we check it out to be sure. thanks

thanks for the link. We travel into Canada at least once a year now for years. The form they speak of in the link is for long barrel guns we have found from experience. Just wonder if anyone know how to go about bringing a handgun across. It is not like we are staying in Canada, we want to carry a handgun in when we drive to up to Alaska this summer then fly home. We will be driving back thru for the final move to Alaska. We would rather carry our guns than have a dealer mail them to another dealer. Has anyone had experience with shipping their hand guns??? Did you ship to a dealer on the Kenai and who was it, what was your experience with the process?? thanks

No guns! No convictions of any kind! Don't drink!! I am curious! what would be the latest i could safely drive up. Could I leave in Oct. if I had to? Or is it better to be up there by then? Passport no prob. I see that there is enough grocery stores. I am a book-a-holic. Are they any good bookstores there? I like to collect too.

Bookstores are mainly in Anchorage. I just found out that Twice Told Tales either closed or moved. Title Wave is an excellent used bookstore on Northern Lights and is bigger than most other bookstores in toen except for Borders. Barnes and Noble on A Street, L&M Books on 4th. I don't know what's in Wasilla. I NEVER go out to the boonies.

Plenty of stores. I'll leave the collectibles for copmuters or new then. Love used stores. Have to make sure I check it out. It seems Anchorage would probably be a once a month to every other month trip during winter. Is as bad during the other seasons? I love to drive even in crazy weather so that's no prob either.

There is a used book-store here in Wasilla (at least one I have found, there may be more). It is in a wee shopping center - Meta Rose Square. A tiny older lady runs it and she is a hoot, real sweet. Then we have the standard Waldenbooks.

Coming to Wasilla she sounds like the perfect permanent used store for me. I only use one here and it;s great when they know what you like.

If your coming to the peninsula, you could always ship to me then pick it up when you get here. You'd be driving right past my place in Sterling, coming down from Anchorage.
