(young irish girl hoping to travel and work in Texas or Canada)

Hi! im a 20year old girl from Cork,Ireland and i was hoping to travel and work in Texas or Canada.Due to the recession and everything is this the totally wrong time to go?? Im hoping not!! Iv trained as a barber here and iv also worked as a waitress and receptionist in a hotel.What are my chances of getting work in either Texas or Canada?? And is there a big Irish community in either place,i know thats abit vague but...!! any information appreciated,thanks!!

Try the Canadian or Texan thread. You won't get any help from Alaska. Alaska isn't a part of Canada.

What a waste of a great adventure, go half way around the world to speak Gaelic with a bunch of Irish... in Texas or Canada of all places....

Well at least you write in English without too bad of an accent, so you should get by OK as long as you drag a pen and paper with you so you can communicate with the locals.

Remember to put "Y'all" at the front of the sentences when in Texas, and an "Eh" at the end of them in Canada...
