I watched the Simpsons Movie last night and there is a scene Homer unfolds a poster that says Alaska A Fresh Start. Sometimes I think it gave alot of people ideas

In Fairbanks there is a memorial plaque as the map of the aircraft transporting from the United States to the Western Front during the World War II. The route of flight was from Alaska, across the Bering strait through Chukotka and further west in the territory of Russia. The map shows that the last settlement of Chukotka is Omolon. After Omolon the route goes over the territory of Kolyma and Siberia.
